GETTING STARTED
Do I need prior experience to enrol?

No prior teaching experience is required for the Dynamic MatDynamic Reformer or Combined Mat & Reformer Certifications. Our courses are designed for all levels, whether you’re new to Pilates or building on existing skills. 

Can I start a course at any time?
Yes, the courses are online and self-paced, you can start at any time. There are no fixed intake dates. Enrol today and access your course content immediately. 
What is the minimum age to enrol?
Students must be 18 years or older at the time of enrolment.
COURSE STRUCTURE & LEARNING EXPERIENCE
How is the course structured?

Once enrolled, you’ll access the KX Institute online learning platform, Learning Hub, which includes structured modules, video content, resources, and assessments

Is the training live or pre-recorded?

Course content is pre-recorded and self-paced. Mentor sessions are delivered live online.

What resources are included?

You’ll have access to:

  • Digital exercise manuals
  • Downloadable workbooks
  • Video exercise library
  • Observation and practice logbooks 
  • The KX Institute Community Hub 
Do I receive mentor support?

Yes! Here’s what’s included:

  • Dynamic Mat or Dynamic Reformer course students receive 2 x 45 minute complimentary mentor sessions with an expert Pilates educator
  • Combined Mat & Reformer course students receive 4 45 minute complimentary mentor sessions with an expert Pilates educator
What can mentors help with?

Mentors provide guidance across course content, teaching skills, class programming, technique, and practical teaching confidence. Further details on mentor support will be provided on enrolment.  

How do I book mentor sessions?

Mentor sessions are booked online via Calendly through the Learner Hub, KX Institute’s online learning platform. 

Can I purchase extra mentor sessions?

Yes. Additional sessions and session bundles are available for purchase.

Are mentor sessions in person or online?

Most mentor sessions are delivered online. Limited in-person events may also be offered. 

What further support is available throughout my learning journey?

Our team is available via email throughout your course, and you can also book a call with a course expert at any stage of your studies. We’re here to support and guide you throughout your learning journey and help you build confidence every step of the way. 

OBSERVATION & PRACTICE TEACHING
When can I start observation hours?

You can begin observation hours after enrolling and completing the introductory module. 

What does not count as observation hours?

The following do not count: 

  • Participating in classes 
  • One-on-one sessions
  • Classes taught by unqualified instructors 
Where can I complete observation hours?

These can be a little easier to arrange as it doesn’t involve practice teaching itself. Observation hours can include watching live online classes or attending live studio classes. Wherever possible, we strongly recommend completing the majority of hours in a live group studio environment to build real-world confidence and teaching capability.  

You will need to get your logbook signed off to demonstrate completion of required observation hours. 

As part of the KX network, students are encouraged to connect with local KX Pilates studios to express interest in observation or practice hours. Many studios are supportive of trainees where capacity allows.  

Studio placement is not guaranteed. 

When can I begin practice teaching?

You can begin once you’ve completed the Teaching Skills module and reviewed the relevant exercise content. 

What counts as valid practice teaching?

Practice teaching involves actively leading planned Pilates sessions while following course programming and safety guidelines. 

The goal is to build confidence, teaching skills, and real-world readiness in line with AUSActive minimum hour requirements. 

How long should practice teaching sessions be?

There is no fixed minimum. Many students begin with short teaching segments and gradually build to full 20–40 minute sessions. 

Do I need to prepare session plans?

Some studios may request session plans. Templates are provided within the course resources. 

Do I need to complete practice teaching at a KX Pilates studio?

No. Practice teaching can be completed in any suitable environment. Approved KX Institute partner studios may also offer practice teaching opportunities. 

How do I organise practice teaching?

Students organise practice teaching independently. An up-to-date list of approved partner studios is available via the KX Institute website. 

What if I don’t have access to a reformer?

Access to a reformer is essential for Reformer-based courses. KX Institute students receive exclusive partner pricing through Your Reformer.

What are the logbook requirements?

All observation and practice teaching hours must be recorded and verified in the official course logbook.

What happens if my logbook is incomplete?

Incomplete or unsigned logbook entries may not be accepted toward course completion. 

TIME COMMITMENT & COURSE ACCESS
How long does the training take?

Courses are self-paced, allowing you to progress at a pace that suits your schedule. Completion time will depend on how consistently you engage with the course content.

How long do I have access to the course?

Course access periods vary by program:

  • Dynamic Reformer Certification: 9 months
  • Dynamic Mat Certification: 9 months
  • Combined Mat & Reformer Certification: 12 months

All course requirements must be completed within your allocated access period to be eligible for certification.

What happens if I can’t complete the course within the specified timeframe?

Eligible students may purchase a course extension and re-assessment package, which includes.

  • An additional 3 months of course access
  • One re-assessment opportunity for your final practical assessment
Can I study while working full-time?

Yes. Many students complete the course alongside work and other commitments.

Is guidance provided to help me pace my studies?

Yes. The Education Team provides suggested study timelines to help you complete your course within 3, 6, or 9 months. 

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
Do I need equipment at home?

You’ll need access to equipment relevant to your course.

Reformer students require access to a reformer. Small props such as hand weights, balls, rings, and resistance bands are also recommended.

Some equipment is available through the KX Shop, and KX Institute students receive exclusive partner pricing through Your Reformer, including 5% off and free freight.

ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION
How am I assessed?

Assessment includes: 

  • Online modules 
  • Competency checks 
  • Observation and practice logbook hours 
  • Final practical video assessment 
What is required to complete certification?

To complete your certification, you must: 

  • Complete all online modules
  • Pass competency checks
  • Complete required observation and practice hours 
  • Pass the final practical assessment
How do I submit assessments?

All assessments are submitted through the Learner Hub.

What must I complete before submitting my final assessment?

You must complete all modules, competency checks, and required logbook hours before submitting your final practical assessment.

How long does assessment review take?

Assessments are typically reviewed within 14 business days.

What happens if I don’t pass my assessment?

You’ll receive feedback and an opportunity to re-submit your assessment.

How many re-assessment opportunities do I receive?

Each student receives one complimentary re-assessment within the timeframe set by the Education Team.

ACCREDITATION, OUTCOMES & CAREERS
Are KX Institute courses accredited?

Yes. KX Institute courses are accredited through AUSactive.

Can I register with AUSactive after completing a course?

Eligible graduates may apply for AUSactive registration, subject to AUSactive requirements. 

Are KX Institute students eligible for AUSactive Student Membership?

Yes. Students enrolled in eligible KX Institute courses may apply for complimentary AUSactive Student Membership.

This membership provides access to professional support and includes insurance coverage for students during their training period, subject to AUSactive terms and conditions. 

Students who are undertaking practice teaching must ensure that:

  • The venue where they are teaching has appropriate insurance coverage, and/or
  • They hold appropriate student insurance through AUSactive or another approved provider. 

We recommend reviewing the AUSactive Student Membership details to ensure you understand the coverage and requirements before undertaking practice teaching hours. 

Are KX Institute courses internationally accredited?

We are actively working toward expanding accreditation opportunities through recognised organisations outside of Australia to further support graduates looking to teach overseas. 

Can I teach overseas with this qualification?

As Pilates is not globally regulated, requirements can vary between countries, employers, insurers, and studios. Some locations may require additional registration, insurance, or practical experience. 

KX Institute courses focus strongly on practical teaching skills, mentoring, anatomy knowledge, and real-world teaching confidence to help prepare graduates for professional teaching opportunities both within Australia and internationally. 

Will I be job-ready at the end of the course?

Our courses are designed to build the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to teach Pilates in professional. 

Can I teach anywhere once I’m qualified?

Graduates may teach in Pilates studios, fitness facilities, or private settings, subject to local regulations and insurance requirements. 

Can I teach at KX Pilates after completing a KX Institute course?

KX Institute courses align closely with the KX method and provide a strong foundation for teaching at KX Pilates. However, employment within the KX network requires a separate recruitment and onboarding process.

What support is available during the course?

Students receive support through:

Are there rules around mentor session bookings?

Yes. Sessions must be booked in advance through the Learner Hub.

How far in advance do I need to book mentor sessions?

Mentoring sessions must be booked at least 48 hours in advance.

PAYMENTS
Are payment plans available?

Yes. Afterpay is available at checkout.

RECOGNISED PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
Does KX Institute recognise prior fitness qualifications?

Yes. Students with eligible Pilates, fitness or movement qualifications may qualify for a course discount.

Which qualifications may be recognised as prior learning ?

Examples of suitable qualifications include, but are not limited to: 

  • Mat Pilates Certification 
  • Certificate III or IV in Fitness 
  • Personal Training qualifications 
  • Yoga Teacher Training 
  • Barre Teacher Training

All qualifications must include an anatomy component.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Can I complete the course if I’m injured or pregnant?

In many cases, yes. As some courses involve physical movement and practice teaching, we recommend contacting the KX Institute Support Team before enrolling. 

What qualification will I receive?

Upon successful completion, you’ll receive a KX Institute Certificate of Completion and applicable AUSactive CPD points where relevant.

Where can I find my course resources?

All course resources are available within the relevant modules in the KX Institute Learner Hub. 

Are resources digital or printed?

Resources are provided digitally and can also be downloaded for printing. Some materials, such as logbooks, may need to be printed.
